LiminalTerms of Service
Effective March 6, 2026
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Liminal (the "App" and "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Eligibility
You must have legal capacity under applicable law. If you are using the App for an organization, you confirm authority to accept these Terms.
3. License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on macOS devices you own or control.
- do not copy, reverse engineer, decompile, or redistribute the App;
- do not bypass technical protections;
- do not use the App for unlawful purposes.
4. Apple App Store
If you downloaded the App from the Mac App Store, you also agree to Apple's standard App Store and Developer Program terms. In any conflict, Apple's terms prevail to the extent they apply.
5. Your content and responsibility
You retain ownership of your User Content (screenshots, annotations, pins, and notes). You are solely responsible for obtaining any required permissions to capture and use screen content and for lawful use of the App.
6. Local data handling
The App is designed to run mostly on-device. We do not operate a general remote service that stores your User Content. You are responsible for local backup, retention, and secure handling of your files.
7. No monitoring; allowed uses
Liminal does not provide legal review, consent management, or content monitoring. We do not verify that content is permitted, and we do not assume responsibility for how you capture, store, share, or publish content.
8. Support and bug reporting
We may provide support at our discretion. Any support communication may be used to investigate reported issues and improve the App.
9. Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND SECURITY OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LIMINAL AND ITS AFFILIATES ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM USE OF THE APP.
If liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any single claim is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim (or, if free, USD 10), except where prohibited by law.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Liminal harmless for claims arising from your use of the App that violates law, these Terms, or third-party rights.
12. Disclaimers around data reliability
You should verify captures and exported outputs before relying on them for critical decisions.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for material breach. On termination, your rights end; you must stop using the App. Sections that by nature should survive (including indemnity and limitations) remain in effect.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and applicable mandatory local law where you reside. If a court has jurisdiction, any dispute may be brought in a court with competent jurisdiction for this contract.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after posting means acceptance of the revised Terms.
